Get a head start and feel confident with your decision by:
- Learning the differences between Medicare plans. For example, some plans need referrals to see a specialist and some don’t. Knowing the basics can help you explore the right type of plan.
- Reviewing your current Medicare Advantage plan (if you have one) and what health benefits you used this year. This can help you make sure your current plan is meeting your needs.
- Reading your Annual Notice of Change (ANOC) to understand any changes in costs, coverage or benefits for next year
- Considering expected life changes – such as upcoming surgeries, new diagnoses, potential relocation and travel plans – to help you identify any plan changes you'd like to make.
- Contacting your preferred doctors and hospitals to make sure they’re in-network for the plans you are considering.
- Making a list of your medications including how often you take them. This will help you check coverage and costs.
- Thinking about the additional benefits you'll actually use. Extras like dental, vision, hearing and fitness benefits can support your overall well-being and add value beyond your medical coverage.
